Mask mandates are off in Ontario. I'd hoped Fiesta would keep them on. I saw one customer enter bare-faced on Friday but that was the lot. Today all customers were masked but three of the staff weren't. Young males in all four cases. I mean it's a huge store with high ceilings and doors constantly opening, facing a parking lot where half the time the wind blows fresh air in (or like yesterday, 80 kmh gusts that rip cladding off of buildings) but I'm still remembering which age group of which sex has the highest accident mortality rate.
And maybe I'll start buying my produce from the Chinese grocery down on Bloor, assuming it still requires masks.

There's no doubt that the Chinese grocers have the best produce and some of the cheapest, even better than the Korean supermarket across the street. I was thinking more of the masking issue, because they always insisted on it from the start for customers and will not themselves be coughing on the produce.
Requiring masks is sensible of them anyway, because it's a tiny space and always crowded, even with two cashiers working. Lines go back halfway to the exit. Luckily they're cash only, which keeps some of the yuppies away, or else you'd have to line up just to get in.

I admit I was surprised that a store that has always been so careful-- counting heads for admission and insisting on line-ups if there were too many people-- should suddenly become so laissez-faire. It may have been a one-off because I haven't seen unmasked staff since then.

Or just anticipating that cases will soon reach critical again.
