Because it's the end of August (at the hotel Ozone) and because I've just drunk half a bottle of wine and because I'm reading The Old Ways and because kate nepveau just posted about being in Ireland, mind says 'Forget Tokyo, forget fall colours, let's go back to Great Britain, let's see the chessmen at the brit.mus again, let's see [livejournal.com profile] incandescens in situ, let's go to Dublin once before you die, let's get a little closer to Stonehenge than you ever did before.' I'm morally convinced this means 'let's revisit the 70s' and I'm fairly certain that's not possible; but just at the moment it looks sooo tempting...

I would be delighted to see you, though I would have to do some severe tidying to clear a place for you to sleep... still, your presence would be greatly appreciated. :)

That's nice to hear, though you wouldn't necessarily have to put me up. If I came it'd be spring/ summer, the cold in your islands being the Canadian-defeating thing it is.

I'd go with you. Haven't been to most of those places.

Would love to have you come with me. Single travel no longer appeals.

I would love to go too! I think england really need to be seen with likeminded friends

Ooo, please do go. Then I can only hope that it will coincide with one of our trips there and I can somehow plan to meet up... or something. (((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))

You should do all that... *grins*

I need to get to Dublin before I die, too... and see [livejournal.com profile] incandescens in situ.

Though why Dublin particularly I'm not sure. I associate it with Joyce freaks and envisage a grey wet Victorian city. Maybe I just want to see 'some place in Ireland.'

Well I'd naturally encourage you come back to these sceptered isles and visit two places dear to my heart: the Yorkshire Dales and Oxford :)

You cannot get more personally 70s than that. Visited Oxford so I could go to Blackwell's, and went Yorkshire so my friend and I could see her ancestral edifice, Easby Abbey.

BLACKWELL'S ♥ My family do Blackwell's on holiday like some people do churches. I've spent many happy hours there, especially in the comfy windowseats in their Classics section (I've never seen so many Loebs together in one place!).

I've never been to Richmond, but a quick Wiki check shows that it's gorgeous and Maps that it's only an hour up the A1, so perhaps I shall have a ride out some time. I do hope it didn't rain on you, as the Dales are wont to do.

(nostalgic sigh) Ah, the Loebs!! Happy times, happy times.

It didn't rain at all. There was a record-breaking heatwave that year, and when we were dehydrated after tromping about and asked for a glass of water at the gatekeeper's cottage, the woman of the house took pity on us and gave us big glasses of lemon shrub.
