Question

The Ghost Bride is excellent, but one bit raises a question. No spoilers, but someone is dreaming about a place they've been, and it's exactly the real life place with real people who were there: is, in fact, a memory revisited in dream.

Do people actually do this?

Because I don't at all. My perennial daycare dreams don't happen in the real places they do (did) happen in. Best I can get is reality+, so it's our old daycare yes, and the same staff, but now it's in the basement level of a supermarket highrise. The 'going back to Bedford' dreams may have the real Bedford house, but the circumstances have changed (they'd have to, for me to be there at all)-- we sold it but we're allowed to go on living there, we sold it but I manage to get in by a window. It's never an actual event that happened at Bedford.

And Japan dreams manufacture their own reality. I often dream of Heiwadai, but it's a flat plain with a road that goes on forever between sparse buildings, about five subway stops to get anywhere. A look at google maps shows how very much not true that is.

I don't. I dream quite vividly of certain places, and sometimes people who were there in that place at the same time as me, but it always takes me a while to recognize them in the dream, and at that point it usually becomes a case of semi-lucid no-we-are-not-repeating-that-memory dreaming.

But there is memory present? As in specific events attached to the specific people and specific place- or rather, specific events you refuse to allow happen? Or is it more 'No, we are not reliving the ambiance of 1982'?

A combination? ... A feeling that these events happened involving these people at some point and in a place probably like this, but all jumbled together. Most notably family events where relatives try to get in my personal space. I know this happened on multiple occasions, but it's not reliving the exact memory of one time in particular.
