A very happy birthday to incandescens. Weekend birthdays are always nice: one is permitted a full-day treat.

Here, at least, it's glorious sunny cool weather. I'm a little discombobulated that my cherry tree is mid-October half empty, here at not quite mid-September. Suppose it's of a piece with those chestnut trees around town whose leaves have browned, curled, and fallen before their conkers were even ripe.
