huh. the site boggled me for a while. then i googled peeps and realized that the rest of the world have to be aware of peeps sans reference because peeps are ~tada~ North American =P
Oh my ... and I thought peeps was a name that Uncle Banri made up!! Ohhh yes and it does bring back Happy RFB memories. I miss them Peeps and most of all I miss the King of Marshmallows Peeps. *sighs*
I didn't now what Peeps were myself until radiofreebanri began talking about them. NAmerican and of a certain generation/ upbringing. But be fair. People always assume everyone just knows local stuff. Malaysian bloggers never tell you what a kopitiam is either.
I thought that too until they started running pictures. Then it was 'oh must be one of those marshmallow candies.' Loathe marshmallow myself so it passed under my radar. (S'mores, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S'more) that everyone also gets nostalgic over, turn out to be nothing to write home about either.)
The marshmallow king got badly short-changed. It's fairly obvious from vol 3 that there's a whole backstory of Litouten's plot and the various minions involved (like Tenpou's old nemesis and Dark-tan guy and Nataku-keeper) and we never hear anything substantial about it at all. Everything gets wound up with an official inquiry-- but who are these officials? No one ever says.
I think it was Ensui that would tell stories to the Peeps. Banri couldn't hear them talk, and his only interaction with them was to occasionally eat one...
We were passing the Peeps Sushi link around at work yesterday. While I salute the mad genius who came up with the idea, the idea of eating these makes my teeth ache!
