Screw the instruction. I haven't been tagged and I'm not tagging anyone else.

Who sleeps in bed next to you?

That's a good question. Every so often my mind slips into an irrational loop and insists I have either a cat or a rabbit somewhere in my vicinity. Used to be 'OMG I forgot to feed/ water the cat/ rabbit!' Now it's 'where's that cat/ rabbit got to in the bed?' I believe my mind is really thinking of my hot water bottle, but if not, the answer to the question is Harvey.

Have you ever lied to a teacher to get out of a deadline?

'Or non parliamo di fatti sì rimoti'-- at this distance I have no idea. Though I suspect I simply didn't write the papers in question.

What kind of books do you read?

Fantasy mostly, some historicals, and the same with manga. The occasional collection of essays and short stories; the occasional mainstream novel, detective story, or YA.

What's your occupation?

Child minder.

What's really creepy?

Vanishing texts. That I remember, that I can *see*, but that aren't where I remember them being.

Who is your celebrity crush?

I don't do celebrities and I'm pretty much over crushes. Squee, sometimes.

What's your current fandom/obsession/addiction?

No obsessions at the moment, though the latest events in 100 Demons could start me down the slippery slope thereof. Various Old Reliables are reliable, fortunately.

What are you listening to right now?

An airplane outside. And now it's gone, replaced by blessed blessed silence.

What food could you eat every day for weeks and not get sick of?

My chocolate soy concoction because I do eat it every day, for years, and am still not tired of it. Dempster's caraway rye bread, Second Cup sugar cookies, ham and pickle, Swiss cheese, cold mangoes.

What websites do you always visit when you go online?

Livejournal, Weather Network, The Star.

What are you going to do next year?

I really don't know. Depends on the state of the chassis.

What was the cutest thing you've seen today?

I don't do cute, but Amory's big goofus smile is near the top. (Amory is a baby-turning-toddler with a sweet disposition and the face of a 45 year old professor of English lit. He ought to be wearing tweed jackets and smoking a pipe, and his name is not Amory.)

Favorite kink?

RL-- none of your business. Fantasy-- totally passive seduction. Very hard to do, I assure you.

What is your zodiac sign?

Capricorn, worse luck.

Do you want to learn another language?

Yes. Preferably one of the ones I've been studying for twenty or twenty-five years.

Five things you can't live without.

Internet. Word Tank. Hot water, in baths and bottles both. Diet Pepsi. Arch supports.

If you could meet anyone now, who would you meet?

[livejournal.com profile] mvrdrk and [livejournal.com profile] paleaswater, and for interest, my Singaporean FL.

What's something you'd like to say to someone right now?

That one's classified.

and for interest, my Singaporean FL. *smiles* you'll be welcomed heartily anytime!

Mooncakes soon you know! Bengawan Solo (http://www.bengawansolo.com.sg/abtus_history.aspx) always leads the way! Once they start selling it just means everyone else had better get their wares out. I saw them and I thought of you! ^_^

Come do come!

Somewhere in the rats nest of my mind, I think you once talked about color, but I'll be darned if I can find it.

I'd love to get together! We just need an excuse. Mooncakes would do.

for interest, my Singaporean FL

I second [livejournal.com profile] i_am_zan :D (Although I fear you will not find me very interesting.)

I was in Toronto 2 years ago in June, for a conference of the Endocrine Society. Better weather than am having now, but still cold and windy to this born-&-bred tropical person.

[identity profile] i-am-zan.livejournal.com 2009-08-07 09:50 am (UTC)(link)
Heheh ... I don't think I'm very interesting either! But maybe I can *Wow!* her with some picture books and I dunno food? ^_~

If it's any consolation I'm not good with cold and windy too! In spite of years abroad I'm rubbish with the cold. It gets to 27 degrees C and I've got a jacket on!

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2009-08-07 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I talked a lot about colour back in '03 when I was trying to get a fix on Pipang. So did you. Summerish of, IIRC, almost exactly six years ago.

We also need a common coast.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2009-08-07 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
A tad preamture, aren't they? Google says not for almost another two months.

As always, depends on the chassis. I envy your in-laws their elderly stamina.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2009-08-07 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
June '07 was a nice month for Torontonians, I recall. If only because anything that isn't a repeat of June '05 (33/ 35 for weeks on end aka The Inferno) is a blessing. Singaporeans will see this differently, natch.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2009-08-07 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
It gets to 27 degrees C and I've got a jacket on!

Oklahomans do that too. Arizonians wear their down vests. Here however anything over 30 is called an Extreme Heat Alert and people are advised to go to cooling centres. (Granted, if it's 30 out it's probably 38 or 40 indoors. Houses are built to keep cold out and heat in, you understand, on the mistaken notion that TO is a cold city. Which is to laugh.)

Your choices fill me with glee!

Passive seduction.. yes, very difficult to do properly but so sexy when it works.

No probs. Here, you can has Christmas in October! Or I think they did one year and people complained, so now we have Christmas in November. Like, once they clear off the Halloween stuff.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2009-08-08 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
If this leads to two months of mooncakes, then LRD has the right idea. Six weeks of Christmas conduces to manslaughter, but only if people play secular carols all the time. Alas, that's what they *do*.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2009-08-08 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Do you know any examples? The only one I'm cognizant of I made up myself. And of course 'X is so kewl that people fall all over him when he merely walks down the street' isn't what I'm talking about.

[identity profile] paleaswater.livejournal.com 2009-08-08 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Hopefully we will see each other this year. Our trip to india is postphoned again, toward late nov/dec. >_<, so that means basically anytime before then is fine, except for maybe the first 2 weeks of oct. So take your pick. I think best foliage in Vermont is more like end of sep, but down here you'll still get some color in late oct. If you come over a weekend we can take a trip up the hudson or something.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2009-08-09 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
I should love to take a trip up the Hudson, and of course I'd come at a weekend on account of wanting to see you occasionally. I've seen colour on the river on early November trips, and my instincts are all for latish October anyway. By then I might even be up for the twelve hour train ride, which otherwise has me worried, given what a three hour bus ride did.

[identity profile] paleaswater.livejournal.com 2009-08-10 01:26 am (UTC)(link)
Late october it is then. I think there is a long weekend for me somewhere in there. Columbius day or veterans day. let me check.
