Twiddling Thumbs

Once again I face that common me-syndrome: I'm afraid of my stories. I'm afraid to write them in case they don't turn out, or in case they swallow me, or in case they go somewhere I don't want them to and then my canon is screwed for good, or in case I don't meet the vague idea I have of them in my head and thus Betray My Characters oh woe woe is me.

Yeah, well. I must grasp the wheel of fire and finish one of these beasties, lest yet another WIP become an Abandoned in Progress. But I don't know which one I want to do. (Answer to that of course is 'none'. I want to play addiction solitaire and do double crostics until I drown in my own ineffectuality.)

Not going to make a poll because it's beyond my capabilities at the moment and anyway polls always break friends pages. But in the queue we have:

1. a Rainywillow Store with an actual plot
2. a back-history set among female dragons, when Goushou was partnering the mother of his third daughter (a word he wouldn't use but we can)
3. the never-ending 100 Demons one about The Thing In The Closet
4. the sequel to the never-going-to-be-finished Kaiei at the southern ocean story, which I can't finish unless I finish 2 as well.

If you were me which would you do?

(Using my 'sweet but clueless kirin' icon. Not sweet but certainly clueless, here.)

I vote for 4 (so thus vote for 2 as well). This closet story #3 also sounds fascinating. (Have never read Rainy Willow, but I'd be interested in reading your version.)

So...I guess that ends up being all of the above... :( That's the anti-helpful.

I vote for 3, the never-ending 100 Demons. Things in Closets must not be denied.

3!

Go no.3!!! ^_~ I aren't checking or anything, yaknow with so many things to do and stuff!

Especially when we mustn't open the one closet door in which everything deemed 'not useful' has gone. Thus the closet is protesting and thus is making squeaky, creaky really unhappy noises and I pulled out my child locks and attached it to the door knobs in hopes of securing it somewhat...at least for a little while...

no nope I am not checking ...Hee!

Things in Closets! =D

4. I don't know why 4 requires 2, but what I really want to see is more Kaiei, and 2 is in the way, so to speak. And really your dragons are so fascinating, I prefer them to Minekura even if they are related.

Or 1, but there are less people interested in Rainy Willow.

If you are willing to look at the Chinese versions, I can lend you Rainy Willow.

Unfortunately, to the extent I have it blocked out, 4 has very little Kaiei in it. It's all the older generation and political crises. But to write it I suppose I must decide at least what eventually happened to Kaiei's infatuation with Pipang, so that he can appear in front of his uncle without excessive awkwardness.

2 isn't exactly in the way, but it illustrates a vexed point in dragon dynamics that underlies much of the action of 4: what decides the sex of a child. Rather than have Goukou do an 'As you know, Gouen' conversation in 4, I do my little omniscient narrator RPG background spiel: using one of Goushou's partners for it because Goushou has all daughters.

I trust BTW that they let you sleep /some/ time at this ridiculous job of yours?

Well then, 2 would be fascinating!

LOL! Oh yes, I either work days or nights, but not both, except when I'm in the middle of something. Which the spouse complains I'm always in ...
