And for my next technically clueless question, it seems lj provides you with an inbox of all comments mailed to you. I currently have 504 entries in there. If I delete the comment from the inbox, is it also deleted from the thread as well? lj isn't telling, naturally.

Oh, no, that's just like a redundant inbox. I forget about mine and have to clean out a couple hundred messages every few months. Deleting one does not mess with a thread.
