I will say it here because I'll be slaughtered if I say it over on RFB.

The latest Gaiden: monkeys fall, everybody dies.

Ahem. In other news, [livejournal.com profile] kickinpants, your package arrived and will be devoured when I get my flipping eyes back. Or resign myself to wearing glasses for the duration. Many thanks.

Kind of OT

Jeanne - I picked up this book for you at Summer Comiket (Zero Sum Booth). Before I send it, want to make sure you don't have it already.

I think you’re right.

That staircase looked more fabulous than practical.

Well . . . yes. True.

But such a lovely visual. ;)

I suspect you're right. Such an ignominious way for elegant Konzen to go. *splat*

Waah! Offroad! *pensively* Don`t you have 2 more copies of this book? =)

Only that one, sorry. People (I suspect the store owners/employees of KBooks and Mandarake) were buying them in stacks...and by end of Comiket weekend, they were 5900 Yen each. They were only 1000 from Zero Sum booths.

Answer- yes and no. I have it in photocopy that someone kindly made for me. Let's say I wouldn't mind having it in good but am not champing at the bit for it. And it *is* a rare find and would bring in big bucks at say a Ycon auction.

Speaking of which: manga donations for the reading room are English only, I assume? Any use for Japanese manga? I have some throbbing manhood ones I could stand to be rid of....

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Though it really is a cliff-hanger in a way. Precisely because Gokuu certainly can't go splat and- well really, I can't see Minekura allowing Konzen to go out in such an ungraceful fashion. So, what's going to catch them?

Nah. I'll send it to you then. There's plenty of other stuffs of the p0rn kind for Yaoicon to offload. I bought it with you in mind anyway.

RE Donations - preferrable English. I have a TON of Japanese mangas. But if you need to get rid of them, we can probably do quick sales on them in the DR for fundraising of sort.

Does Y con need donations???? I got stuff that can move on to its next Forever Home.

Glad you got the stuff. :) The book itself isn't a surprise. I think the new chapter hints at a very action-oriented/stressful volume, which will be a pain to read every other month. :/ Plot movement isn't a bad thing though.

We are building a library of sort for the con.^^ This will be our second yr for it. We have about 1000 english mangas so far. >.> More the better.

Is it possible to donate English-language manga then? If so, what's the best way to go about it?

But it's not a spoiler ... Gaiden has to end that way in order for the main story to exist. It's only the how that's a mystery. Also, finally this thing is coming to an end! That means I can finally start thinking about buying it.

[identity profile] flemmings.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 10:53 am (UTC)(link)
The spoilerishness isn't the problem. It's the flippancy. Over in the wank communities there's a catchphrase 'Rocks fall, everybody dies' to describe how to end any series in the way that best discomfits the fans.

(mild irony) I'm glad you're glad the Gaiden is finally coming to an end so you can think about reading it. You'll forgive the longtime fans if we find this slightly cold comfort for the fact that, you know, the Gaiden is coming to an end. Me, I'm sad that we won't be seeing these characters any more. And no, the main series doesn't count. The Gaiden is better: largely because it has to come to an end, if you want irony.

[identity profile] cupnjava.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm really going to miss Gaiden. That "backstory" is strong enough to stand on its own.

Precisely. Gaiden has far-outshined Saiyuki Reload as of late (Youkai!Hakkai notwithstanding) that I often forget that it has to end -- and tragically so -- for it to have served it's purpose. *sigh*

[identity profile] mvrdrk.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
You have my deepest sympathy on the ending. I've done that before. The main series, as much as I liked it, was clearly on the way to 'monster of the week' and so lost me. Gaiden, even the mere 1st volume I have, is far superior.

No need to apologize =) If it was only possible to order this book from Zero Sum booths...The first, I don`t know japanese, and the second, I don`t think it`s possible for them to ship this book in my country =)
Anyway, thanks!
