Mph. The good news is that Kinokuniya will order me the summer WARD with its Gaiden ep. The bad news is that it will take 3-4 weeks to arrive in NY and probably another week to get up here. But I *shall* have a copy eventually, which soothes my soul for having lost- or rather, never received- the spring episode.

ahh you should have told me you didn't have the Spring issue. I had two copies of it!!! I sold the one recently. Gahhhh!!

Ahh, sadness. Clearly I need to complain more loudly about the iniquities of the Gunma post office.

Hi. Don't mean to intrude on your journal. I was trying to do a Gaiden search and came across this post. Hope you don't mind.

How did you approach the workers at Kinokuniya about getting a copy of WARD for you? The other month I asked them about GanGan [since I came the day before and there were 2] and they told me they sold out so I'd have to wait until next month. But I wanted that months!

So, any tips on how to ask them to get me WARD? I don't see it there and I so wanted it ... especially because of the cover. -____-*

Thank you, thank you for your time and I am so very sorry if I have bothered you.

Basically, I order in advance. The demand for WARD isn't as high as for Gangan so they have to put in a special order for it. It takes longer but that's why they were able to get me a copy even the one time that they lost my email and I had to reorder after it came out.

Because Gangan has the blockbuster FMA in it Kinokuniya has a standing order for a certain number of copies that get shipped immediately, and just as immediately bought out by the fans over here. IIRC the situation is the same in Japan- bookstores can't order more of a massively popular magazine that sells out, or don't, whichever. So if you don't buy it at once- or have a pre-standing order for a copy- you're out of luck.

Ah, I see. Thanks so much for your help. What I need to do them is get them to order WARD on a regular basis for me and I get a copy? I'll have to do that next time I get in the city. Too bad I couldn't get my hands on the Winter version. But at least I know this now. Thanks again. :)

I'm not sure they *will* order a quarterly magazine regularly, but you can ask. I have to email them every three months and then double-check that they got the email if I don't hear back within a day or so. (Like now, grr.) Maybe if you're there in person they'll be more accommodating.

Thanks so much for all your advice. I went in person and they are going ahead and ordering the Spring issue for me. They said it'd take like a month or so but, what the hey at least I'll get it.

I asked about back orders but it seems there's nothing they can do about those. I think they said it's because Zero-Sum doesn't do back orders. Too bad. And yeah, they won't do it regularly. They said it's because they don't want people changing their minds and canceling since it's so much trouble getting things in from Japan.
