All about food
Made it to the supermarket again, even though the ice ridges are even worse than on Thursday, and got
a) the right kind of Triscuits ie not Thins which really do not taste like Triscuits; the last remaining box of same. Plenty of all the other flavours, but not Classic;
b) yoghurt after discovering that whatever full fat yoghurt may do, fat-free does not freeze. Once thawed it turns into a dairy slushy, and is disgusting ;
c) guacamole to render the Thins edible, though guac really goes better with veg;
d) chicken breasts in case I'm confined again next week from either snow or booster;
e) herbes de provence to go with the chicken. This was a come by chance purchase. I was looking for classic poultry seasoning which they seem not to make anymore, and pumpkin pie seasoning which they don't have either. Last crockpot chicken I made I put in a generous amount of poultry seasoning and then realized it was pumpkin pie. Scraped most of it off, but the chicken still tasted not unpleasantly of cinnamon. Only now I don't have enough to season my sweet potatoes with.
f) alas, chocolate. I was jonesing for some for the last two days, so I got some Fair Trade mint chocolate and then, alas, a Ghirardelli hazelnut bar. Ghirardelli is quantitatively better than any other chocolate I know, fair trade or not.
So I'm fortified against tomorrow's forecast snow, though if I do make crockpot chicken it will be with bottom of the veg drawer veg and, probably even worse, frozen mixed veg, which are always soggy. Though maybe the other flavours will mask the disappointing frozen veg taste. I'd have liked to get fresh veg but that weighs, and as I say, manhandling the rollator over ice is bad enough with only one bag.
