Caribana so often swelters and pours that I suppose I should be glad that the temps stayed moderate-for-August ie high 20s and of course cooler by the lake, though I'm not sure if they still have the major beanfest on the Islands. Not even sure if they still have Islands to beanfest on: last I heard the easternmost? one was being taken over for Drug Fraud's buddies' superspa.
But I wasn't going out into the brassy smoke-tinged air today, being quite sufficiently uncomfortable indoors. Sinuses filling, sinus headache, cough etc. Added to a nuit blanche last night, doubtless the result of coffee at 6. Normally I think taking forever to fall asleep is preferable to the more usual insomnia of waking and not being able to go back to sleep, but last night I was so miserable all I wanted was sweet oblivion and sweet oblivion wouldn't come. Not helped by having to do without the window AC, which was drawing smoke smells into the room. A friend who had the 'wake in the wee hours' insomnia used to read herself back to sleep, and in past years I used to be able to do that too, but am no longer able to read one-eyed comfortably. So yeah, last night was miserable
Well, coffee will not be a problem because, as has happened once or twice before, I can't get the cap off the bottle I bought the other day. When it unscrews easily I wonder why I ever had trouble with that brand, and then I get the unbudging type and remember. Of course everyone is away for the long weekend, so I will do without my coffee until they come back.
What I did do was dl google docs to this tablet, which allows me to access the .doc files in my directory after three years without a computer. Not sure what I'll do with them, if anything, but now I can write if I want to.
