It certainly is a doorstop of a book, but I doubt I could manage it as a kindle. Footnotes were bad enough in St Death's Daughter, and JS&MN's go on for pages. Certainly worth it, though, while I try to figure if Clarke is pastiching Dickens or Thackeray what-I-remember-of-him after 50 years. Dickens but not as arch, is my feeling so far.
