Authors relying on the income is another point in Amazon's favour. Thinking about my recent reading, I mostly read living authors. To be honest, the small amount I spend with Amazon is not going to make much different. I've never subscribed to Prime because, other than Kindle books, I buy virtually nothing from Amazon. Next day delivery has never been a priority and I can get free delivery if I'm happy to wait for things.
