Heatwave or not, I will say it's pleasant to sleep in just a sleep shirt, without pyjama bottoms or socks, on cotton not wool (I sleep on an old blanket in winter) under a single duvet. Makes thrashing around in my sleep so much easier, not to mention getting out of bed, because a duvet and a blanket is weighty enough to tax my feeble arms.
But I'll be glad when it cools down again because I don't want to have to open the windows at night only to have to close them when temps go back to freezing at night. Feeble arms again, and windows that have sagged out of true as the house settles. Also the bedroom fan is in two pieces and a bit unsteady even when assembled so I'd as soon not have to use it for another month or two.
My hyacinth is blooming, poor scraggly thing though it is, so the kitchen smells lovely in the morning. For however long, because hyacinths go off very quickly indeed.
