Garage tenant came by with the rent, whih let me ascertain that it wasn't as hot and muggy as Env.Can claimed so off I trotted to Fiesta to stock up against tomorrow, which might be as hot and muggy as Env.Can forecasts, with extra thunderstorms. And because an online article claimed that fats actually lower your chances of diabetes, I indulged in a probably cholestrol unfriendly favouite of mine, a cucumber dill prepared salad dressing. The thing is that I can't really eat salad unless there's something to balance the vinegar and oil, usually starch: bread or rice. Egg helps but doesn't entirely cut it. I used to just do a vinegar, mustard, and gapefruit juice dressing beause I'm not a fan of oil, but that was too acidic. But the (I assume) yoghurt in the dressing coats my insides and is perfect. Salads are the only way to get my leafy greens in summer because I can't see me steaming or stir frying bok choy or broccoli in these temps, to say nothing of digesting them.
I've also been indulging in potatoes, kind of a large version of fingerlings. Yes they're a nightshade but I believe it's more the skin that does the damage. And yes they're a starch, but I follow it with 40 minutes of bike machine, so am not going to worry. Don't they heat up the kitchen? Not if you bring to boil, clap on a lid, and let them cook in the steam.
