The world's news does nothing to lessen my SAD.
But in Toronto it was a nice enough weekend. Yesterday in fact stayed at the 'pleasantly warm' level of summers long ago, breezy and blue. Today was getting into the too hot territory of 30C humidices and I'm half tempted to run the window AC for an hour or so to cool the bedroom down.
I doubt we'll see the moon eclipse. Calling fo 80% cloud cover during the relevant hours.
Sadie the dog has had a bandage around one leg for about a week, as seen by me from the study window. I never caught J outdoors to ask about it. Today Sadie was wearing a large cone and was clearly unhappy with it, or unhappy at being left alone with J's friend, but since friend was there I made my kind inquiries and was told that Sadie had a cancerous growth on her paw which has now been removed and they think they got all of it. Poor Sadie. J came back then: she'd been two doors down figuring out why Signora's air conditioning wouldn't start. Poor Signora.
Bringing in washing Friday evening, I traded remarks with NND's tenant S who was smoking in the back yard. S asked me about the small faux-stone faux-gargoyle that sits out in the untouched wasteland of my backyard. Seems S has friend who collects garden gargoyles and on seeing mine, asked S if I'd be willing to sell. I said it wasn't really mine but a long ago present to bro and s-i-l which they never had any idea what to do with and were happy to leave behind and S's friend was welcome to it. Yesterday S mowed his dandelion field (sorry, bees, but you've got the remaining sakura) and erected his plastic canopy, brought out the garden furniture, and put the gargoyle on the little garden table, where it looks much more at home than over on my side of the garden. I really need to start pruning and deadheading stuff out there but I still have that mysterious fallout of cramping adductors if I bend over too much. Started it last week just from sweeping the floor.
