If anything could persuade me to shell out the tens of thousands of dollars needed to replace drafty windows in this place, it would be the recrudescence of Skunk in spring. But of course, skunk season overlaps windows open season and the only reason my windows aren't open on this warm(ish) Sunday is that we'll be back to single digits by Tuesday. Mind, I also think my windows would be a smidge less drafty if I had any upper body strength and could close them properly.
Warmish Sunday because we never got anywhere near the 24C/ mid-70s they were promising: didn't get over 16/61 and that with a wind. I went out without a jacket because the sun was hot and so was I, as long as the sun was where I was. But I stopped to have a salmon and cream cheese bagel at the Christie café, where I ate outside because the owner has never been a fan of vacc. passports or masks and I'm being cautious. Outside is in shade and the wind, as ever in April, moved around so it was never at my back for long.
Today was also Second Hand Sunday, a FB formalization of the ad hoc Front Lawn Flea Market. Advantage is, I suppose, that people could go out trawling instead of trusting to serendipity. I put out my unsatisfactory under table bike machine and two things I'd scored in the past from the FLFM: a large water bottle I thought I might need post-op in case getting to a faucet proved problematic, and a large steamer that I thought might come in handy as a dutch oven of sorts. Never used it because I don't steam things in that quantity and the vents in the lid meant I couldn't use it for cooking. Looks like all of these are gone, hallelujah.
Which makes me sad that I didn't go through my kitchen cupboards for this, because I have grill frying pans that are no better than my cast iron one, and tons of kitchen knick-knacks that I've never used. I will never have a dinner party, I don't need a roasting pan that will hold a twenty pound turkey, the shallow ceramic bowl you can float flowers in as a centrepiece is useless to me, nado nado nado. Hope we get more warm sunny weekends so I can put those out.
